Gate 2017: Gate stands for Graduate Aptitude Test for Engineering. It is an All India Examination which is organized jointly by Indian Institute of Science and Seven Indian Institutes of Technology on the behalf of Department of Education, National Coordinating Board, and Ministry of Human Resource Development. In 2017, IIT Roorkee conducted Gate in 8 Sessions which comprises of 23 Papers.

Gate Score determines the overall performance of the Candidate. In Order to get admission in Post Graduate Colleges and for getting recruitment in PSUs like ONGC, BHEL, GAIL, SAIL, etc candidate has to score good marks in Gate. Gate 2017 Exam was held on 4th, 5th, 11th, and 12th of February and was held in 650 different centers across the country. Gate is one of the toughest exams in the country. The Exam has also been held for International candidates in countries like Singapore, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia.

Gate 2017 Result

Gate Result will be announced on 27th March 2017. All the Candidates who have Qualified the Examination will be able to download the Result. The Candidates can check the result via online mode only. The Result will be valid for next three years from the date of its announcement.

In order to Check Gate Result, follow simple steps as given below:

  • Firstly, Visit the Official Gate Website.
  • Secondly, then you have to view a link, about result. Click on that link.
  • Enter your  Enrollment ID/Email Address, Password and then Captcha as shown in image and click on submit.
  • Now you will be able to view your result.

Gate Result will display data as follows:

  • Name of Candidate.
  • Gate 2017 Registration number.
  • Exam Paper in which the candidate has appeared.
  • Marks obtained out of 100.
  • Qualifying Marks to pass the respective exam.

Gate 2017 Scorecard

The Score Card will be announced on March 27, 2017, along with the result. All the Candidates can download their Gate 2017 Scorecard till May 26, 2017. The Candidates who will get equal to or greater than Qualified marks will only be able to download the Scorecard. At any Instance, the Examination Authority will not issue the hard copy of the Scorecard, so aspirants have to compulsory download the Scorecard before May 26.

Due to any reason, if a candidate requires a Soft copy of the Scorecard after May 26, then they will have to pay Rs 500 on the GOAPS Portal to get the Scorecard.

Steps to Download Gate 2017 Scorecard are as follows:

  • First of all, Visit the GOAPS Portal. It will appear as shown in the image below.
  • Enter details like Gate 2017 Enrollment ID/ Email Address.
  • Then, Enter the Password.
  • Finally, Enter the captcha and then click on Submit.

Which details be available on Gate 2017 Scorecard?

Scorecard will display Following Details:

  • Name and Photograph of Candidate.
  • Candidate’s Registration Number.
  • Gender of Candidate.
  • Examination Paper Name.
  • Gate 2017 Score gained of 1000.
  • Gate 2017 Marks gained out of 100.
  • Qualifying Marks for General, OBC (NCL), and SC, ST, PwD.
  • All India Rank of the candidate in the appeared paper.
  • Total Number of candidates appeared in that paper.
  • The validity of Gate Score from March 27, 2017, to March 26, 2020.

The candidates who have got equal or more than the qualified marks can apply for various facilities as follows:

On basis of Gate Score, Candidates can apply for various M.E/M.Tech and Ph.D. Courses. Gate Score used to get admission in numerous Institutions as well as to get Job in various PSUs across the Country.

Gate Answer Key

The Answer Key was Released on February 26, 2017. Final Answer Key has been released on 16th March 2017 after the attention of objectives sent by the students to the existing Answer Key which was released on February 26, 2017.

Gate 2017 Cutoff

Gate Cutoff is the minimum marks to be scored by the Candidate to Qualify the Exam. The Candidates will get admission in various colleges based on their Gate Cutoff.

In the last year, more than 8,18,850 Candidates have appeared for the Gate Examination, Out of which more than 1,35,390 have passed the Examination.

Gate 2017 Examination Pattern

Purpose: For getting Admission in M.E/M.Tech Colleges.
Exam Mode: Exam Mode was Online.
Exam Duration: Duration of Exam is always 3 Hrs.
No of Papers: There are 23 Question Papers, all the candidates have to only appear in their opted discipline.
No of Questions: Paper consists of Total 65 Questions.
Type of Questions: There are two types of questions, Objective, and Numerical. Also, there are 10 questions on General Aptitude weighing 15 marks.

Gate 2017 Syllabus

Syllabus of Gate 2017 differs for each and every discipline. IIT Roorkee had released the Syllabus for all the different branches. The Syllabus of General Aptitude remains same for all the branches. It includes Verbal and Numeral Ability. Verbal Ability includes questions related to sentence completion, Grammar, reasoning, verbal analogies, etc while the Numeral Ability includes computation, calculation, and reasoning, etc.

Gate 2017 Counseling Process

Gate 2017 will not have in General Counselling for the students. The Exam is conducted to check the ability and knowledge of the aspirants. All the institutes will conduct counseling procedure in their own way. Candidates should continuously check the updates of the colleges they want to apply for.

What’s New in Gate 2017?

Exam Centres: Gorakhpur(IIT Kanpur), Dibrugarh(IIT Guwahati) and Burdwan(IIT Guwahati) have been added as Exam Centres in 2017.
New Section: This year in Engineering and Science Paper, a new section was introduced on Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences, which means XE Paper will have 8 sections from A to H.
Gate for International Students: Apart from India, Gate 2017 was also held for aspirants in Countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Singapore, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, and Ethiopia.

Who can appear in Gate Exam?

What is the Validity of Gate Score?
Gate Score is valid for 3 Years.

What is the Maximum age to appear for Exam?
There is no age limit for the candidate to appear for Gate Exam.

Is there any rule of Negative Marking for a wrong answer?
Yes, for every 1 mark of multiple-choice-question, 1/3 of the mark will be deducted for a wrong answer while for every 2 marks of multiple-choice-question, 2/3 of the mark will be deducted for a wrong answer.
